As the song says, Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year for families to gather together and celebrate. Anytime there is a gathering of family and friends at my house, it’s usually done in the kitchen or around the table with beautiful tasty food. If it’s sweet, that’s even better!
Christmas and Thanksgiving are perfect times to introduce decadent sweet treats to anyone that thinks eating vegan is plain and boring. From black bean brownies to chocolate mousse pie, there are so many options to create for Christmastime festivities and gatherings.
Lower-fat vegan desserts
In this list, we have everything from chocolate cake and no-bake chocolate pie, to applesauce cinnamon muffins and glazed carrot cake. Believe it or not, they are even lower in fat than most dessert recipes.
Please understand that even though they are lower in fat because we aren’t using any oil, eggs, or dairy, they still can’t be considered healthy food to eat every day because they do have sweeteners. Any sweeteners–even the much less refined options like maple syrup and date sugar–still need to be saved for special occasions like the holidays and birthdays. Otherwise, they can sabotage weight loss goals.
Lazy vegan desserts (15-minutes or less)
Granted, some of the recipes in this list are more labor-intensive than others. Let’s face it, not everyone is good at baking, and you don’t have to be to make some of these desserts.
Here’s a short list of a few easy vegan holiday dessert recipes that can be whipped up in about 15-minutes or less.
