I’ve been shopping at Aldi ever since one opened fairly close to us several years ago, and it’s quickly become one of my favorite places to stock up on plant-based staples. Just to be clear—I’m not affiliated with Aldi in any way, so I don’t make a dime by recommending their products. I’m simply a longtime shopper who has discovered some incredible finds, and I want to share them with you.

As a healthy vegan, plant-based family, we’ve learned that eating well doesn’t have to mean breaking the bank. Most of us are looking for ways to stretch our grocery budget while still putting nourishing food on the table, and Aldi has been such a blessing in that area. Week after week, I walk out with a cart full of wholesome, oil-free, plant-based ingredients at prices that make me smile.

Over time, I started jotting down my favorite products—things I buy again and again—and before I knew it, I had quite a list. I even asked some followers to share their favorite Aldi finds. So today, I’m pulling it all together in one place as a resource for you. My hope is that whether you’re brand-new to plant-based eating or you’ve been on this journey for a while, you’ll find this list helpful for discovering new options, saving money, and making shopping a little easier.

To keep things simple, I’ve broken the list down into categories—like bottled items, canned goods, frozen foods, and fresh produce—so you can skim through and quickly see what might fit your own shopping style. These are the tried-and-true products that make it into my cart week after week, and I can’t wait to share them with you!

Bottled Items

Aldi has some great pantry staples in bottles that I reach for all the time. Their organic ketchups and mustards are clean and budget-friendly, and I especially love their vinegars (apple cider, balsamic, and red wine). Aldi is a small and quick

One of the things I love most about Aldi is its size—it’s small and easy to navigate, which means I can usually get in and out in about 15 minutes. While it’s not a huge grocery chain (so you may not find every single specialty item on your list), I’m able to check off about 85–90% of my shopping there. For the few extras I need, I just make a quick stop elsewhere. Some products rotate in and out, but overall, Aldi does a great job keeping their core items stocked, which makes shopping simple and stress-free.

Trader Joe’s also offers a wide variety of vegan products, and I’ve put together a list of 140 plant-based items from Trader Joe’s that you might want to explore.

The Bottom Line

Aldi keeps grocery shopping simple. With its smaller size, affordable prices, and a solid selection of fresh produce, pantry staples, and even some organics, it’s easy to see why so many shoppers love it. While you may not find every specialty item on your list, you can usually get most of what you need—and save both time and money in the process.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Aldi carry organic produce?

Yes! Aldi offers a nice selection of organic fruits and vegetables, and the prices are usually much lower than traditional grocery stores. You won’t always find every single item in organic, but staples like apples, spinach, carrots, and berries are often available.

Do I need a quarter for the shopping cart?

Yes, Aldi requires a quarter to unlock a cart, but don’t worry—you get your quarter back when you return the cart. It’s a simple system that helps keep the parking lot organized and carts in place. Oftentimes, people leaving will just give you their cart so they don’t have to walk it back.

Do I need to bring my own bags?

Yes—Aldi doesn’t provide free shopping bags, so you’ll need to bring your own or purchase reusable or paper bags at the store. Many shoppers keep a few bags in their car so they’re always ready.

Do Aldi products rotate or stay the same?

Both! Aldi has core items that are always on the shelves—like beans, rice, produce, and plant-based milk. But they also rotate in special finds (known as Aldi Finds), which can include fun seasonal plant-based items. If you see something you love, stock up—it might not be there next week!
