Are You Still Looking?

children looking for easter eggs in yard.

Last month,we hosted our extended family for Easter lunch, and one of my favorite moments came after the meal—watching the kids head out into the yard for the egg hunt. They were all in. Running, scanning the ground, peeking behind bushes, lifting azalea branches for a better look… eyes wide, hearts expectant. They just knew there were treasures waiting to be found because each of the plastic eggs had a prize inside.

And it made me pause and wonder. When was the last time I looked for God like that? Not just in the big, obvious ways, but in the small, quiet places of everyday life.

Because I truly believe He’s constantly leaving little “treasures” along our path. A kind word at just the right moment. A beautiful sunrise you didn’t expect. A sense of peace that settles in when you needed it most. These aren’t random—they’re personal. Thoughtful. Intentional. Little reminders that He sees us and knows exactly what we need.

But here’s the thing—the kids found those eggs because they were looking. They expected something good to be there.

And I think sometimes, when life feels heavy or discouraging, it’s not always that the blessings have stopped; it’s that we’ve stopped looking for them. We stop expecting. We walk through the day with our heads down instead of our eyes open. I’ve been there too.

But what if we approached each day a little more like those kids in the yard? Curious. Hopeful. Expectant.

What if we started looking again?

Even in the middle of hard seasons, there are still glimpses of goodness waiting to be noticed. And the more we begin to see them, the more our hearts shift. Gratitude starts to grow. Joy sneaks back in, little by little.

So today, I’m reminding myself—and maybe you too. Look a little closer. Expect a little more. There are treasures tucked into your day just waiting to be found. If you don’t see them at first, look harder.

“You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” Jeremiah 29:13
