I used to eat a lot of oily, crispy fried foods before I regained my health, and that is one thing I sometimes missed after switching to a whole-food, plant-based lifestyle. These days, I enjoy foods like these crunchy oil-free air fryer French fries, my healthy air-fried potato wedges, and even these delicious vegan pot stickers all made in my air fryer.

Reasons you will love air frying

  • Oil-Free Cooking: Air fryers offer a healthy alternative to frying by using no oil, allowing you to enjoy crispy vegan dishes with reduced fat and calories.
  • Keeps Kitchen Cool: An air fryer is great for summertime cooking because it allows you to prepare delicious meals with a crispy texture without heating up your kitchen like a traditional oven would, helping to keep your home cool during hot weather.
  • Versatility: From crispy tofu and roasted vegetables to homemade veggie chips, air fryers can cook a wide variety of vegan foods, providing options for every meal and snack.
  • Efficiency and Convenience: Air fryers cook food quickly and evenly, making them ideal for busy schedules. They also minimize cleanup with their non-stick baskets, making healthy vegan cooking accessible throughout the year.

What is an air fryer?

If you’ve never heard of an air fryer, you’ve really been missing out. I absolutely love mine and use it at least once a week for terrific healthy recipes like my vegan black bean burgers.

An air fryer is a terrific kitchen appliance that cooks by circulating hot air around the food at high speed. It is able to produce crispy foods like these air fryer fried green tomatoes without using any oil which makes them much lower in calories and fat.

Air fryers are small enough to fit on your kitchen counter, and they allow you to make some great foods without needing to heat up the stove which makes them extra awesome during the hot summer months. I love my Ninja 5.5-capacity air fryer because it has a roomy basket that holds plenty of food.

Discovering healthy air fryer recipes

When I first heard about air fryers a few years ago, I was intrigued. The information I was reading said that air fryers would cook food to a crisp without having to deep fry.

I have to admit that I was very skeptical. However, after testing out a new air fryer, I discovered that all those crispy fried foods could indeed be back in my life. Only, this time, they have zero oil and aren’t clogging my arteries or causing inflammation in my body.

Take a look at some of the amazing air fryer vegan recipes these crispy roasted chickpea snacks that I make regularly in my air fryer for the family. Bring on the crispy food!

Tips for using your air fryer

  • Don’t Over-Fill: Make sure not to overcrowd the air fryer. I love my Ninja 5.5-capacity air fryer because it has a roomy basket that holds plenty of food.
  • Even Cooking: Shake the basket a couple of times during cooking to make sure everything is browning properly.
  • Cooking Spray: Never use nonstick spray on your basket, because it can damage the air fryer. Parchment paper can be used to make cleanup easier.
  • Counter Space: Air fryers get pretty hot, so make sure there is at least 5″ of space around your device.

  1. I would love to have this airfryer especially for cooking for my family. Since I am plant based it is hard to convince my family to eat at my house, which is very sad for me. I a good cook , but their tastes are not used to my oil free foods. I hope that serving them food cooked with the air fryer will bring them home to visit more often.

  2. Thank you Air Fryer for helping support health. I would love one to continue to serve as a marketing supporter.

  3. I have been dying to get an air fryer. I eat plant based, but I so miss the crunch! I only fall off the wagon for oil! I am trying to spread plant based eating to my family and friends and I know I could win them over with the fryer! I will keep my fingers crossed that I might be the lucky winner!!

  4. I would love to win the air fryer for my daughter and soon to be son in law. Derek has this airfryer on his wish list, he is such a great guy I would love him to have it. Then when I visit I could use it to, win win.

  5. Both my husband and I have been close to death with health issues, cancer and heart failure. Fried foods were always one of our favorite food choices and we miss the crunchyness! Would love to combine healthy and crunchy, I have no doubt this air fryer would be in constant use!!

  6. I have been looking at air fryers for quite some time. It isn’t in the budget right now (out of work), but I was truly inspired yet again as we recently visited with friend who whipped up French fries for the kids… no frying involved! And these recipes are so tempting. If I don’t win, I may have to figure this one out on my own ?

  7. I am addicted to kitchen gadgets. proper tools are important correct?! In the 4 1/2 years of being plant based it has developed into a teaching others how and why to eat this way. I have really wanted to add to my repertoire the ability to have this type of crunch. I would love to win one of these.

  8. I have started eating whole food plant based two months ago, while my whole family continues to eat SAD. I would love an air fryer to try and get my family to eat healthier and as part of my diet I am trying to eliminate fats from my diet.

  9. I want my two daughters ages 4 and 8 to have a dad that lives long to see them older (in spite of diagnosis with congestive heart failure two years ago), and I want to feed them food that fuels their body in a healthy way, preventing chronic disease in their life, teaching them the taste of real food, without feeling deprived; air frying gives the option of providing a healthier version of foods that their friends may eat, and instead of hearing from their friends “your mom is crazy to never let you eat fries”, they might say to their friends “we make our version of healthy fries at home”.

  10. I’ve never heard of an air fryer. But goodness those pictures make that food look amazing! We don’t do tofu as a general rule for allergy reasons, and I get into such a rut when cooking since switching to plant based. This would give us some variety!

  11. I miss eating ‘fried foods’. We had them a lot when I was a kid, but since growing up and having lost my dad to heart disease at such an early age (48!) I realize that cooking that way just is not a good choice.
I would love to try the air-fried tempura veggies. That sounds so good! Thank you for this opportunity.
