Recently, we had 4 guests over on a Sunday afternoon, and I made a couple of batches of my Chocolate Banana Nice Cream with a spoonful of peanut butter in each of them. Everyone was raving about how good this homemade ice cream is, and they could not believe it was actually low in calories and vegan.
I have a terrific Homemade Gluten-Free Granola recipe that is perfect as a topping for any of these nice cream recipes.
So what is nice cream?
Almost everyone I know loves ice cream, but it’s usually loaded with fat and sugar. Nice cream is basically healthy ice cream made with a base of frozen bananas, and it can even be made with only bananas if desired which are loaded with so many health benefits. Simply blend the frozen bananas in a blender or food processor until they reach a smooth creamy texture.
Ingredients can include:
- Frozen bananas
- Vanilla extract
- Splash of plant milk such as almond, soy, rice, etc.
- Cocoa powder
- Frozen berries or other fruit
- Toppings of choice like crushed walnuts and dairy-free chocolate chips
Why is it called nice cream?
It gets its name “nice cream” because it’s wholesome and complementary to a healthy diet and lifestyle without all of the usual sugary stuff. There’s no guilt in enjoying this delicious dessert because it’s dairy-free, vegan, gluten-free, and free of any added sugar.
Is nice cream healthier than ice cream?
You bet! Nice cream has a fraction of the fat and calories of traditional ice cream, and it isn’t processed with lots of preservatives. Made with only wholesome ingredients of frozen fruit right in your own kitchen, these low-calorie nice cream recipes are going to be a huge hit!
The great thing is that it’s so versatile, and you can see from the variety and flavors included in this list. We’ve got everything from chocolate, vanilla, berry fruit, mango lime, blueberry, even chocolate peanut butter.
